Chaffee Trail Elementary School

The team will explore school-based environmental education models across Florida to help bring a Food Forests for Schools program to Duval County. Their proposal aims to expand outdoor learning through a structured school garden and outdoor classroom that supports hands-on learning in science, math, agriscience and environmental literacy.

Jean Ribault High School

Mari Richardson, Ashley Cozad, Victoria Nolen, Stephanie Parks, William Griffin

The Jean Ribault High School team of five educators is traveling to the 2026 Model Schools Conference in Orlando. Their proposal aims to strengthen school culture, student engagement and instructional consistency by bringing back research-based strategies that support students, teachers and families.

Kari Houston

River City Science Academy

Kari will travel to Belize to study coastal ecosystems and the impact of invasive species such as lionfish. She will use what she learns there to connect math and science learning to real environmental challenges by helping students see how issues affecting Belize’s reefs also relate to Jacksonville’s waterways and coastline.

Nick Nelson

Sabal Palm Elementary School

Nick, an educator at Sabal Palm Elementary School, will participate in an Explicit Instruction Training of Trainers led by Dr. Anita Archer. His proposal aims to strengthen classroom instruction and reduce teacher stress by building a shared, practical framework that supports student engagement, teacher confidence and schoolwide coaching.

Patrick Kyne

Duncan Fletcher Middle School

Patrick will travel to Hawaii to explore volcanic and geologic activity through guided tours and firsthand study of lava flows, craters and volcanic landscapes. His proposal aims to deepen students’ understanding of plate tectonics and volcanism by bringing real-world science experiences into the classroom and building excitement for science learning.

Monica Gold

Arlington Middle School

Arlington Middle School

Monica, a teacher at Arlington Middle School, will travel to Valparaíso, Chile, to study muralism, poetry and visual storytelling traditions. Her proposal aims to strengthen literacy instruction for multilingual newcomer students by using arts-based strategies that support identity, belonging and access to academic content.

Atlantic Coast High School Team

Argel Hipol and Michele Beck

The biology teachers at Atlantic Coast High School will attend the TESOL International Conference in California. They aim to foster inclusive and equitable learning environments that support language acquisition and student success.

Marques Reynolds

Jean Ribault High School

Marques Reynolds, a 12th-grade English teacher and test prep specialist at Jean Ribault High School, will travel to London to study the historical, cultural, and linguistic origins of prefixes, suffixes, and roots. His proposal aims to enhance students’ reading comprehension and vocabulary mastery for standardized tests by incorporating real-world, context-rich experiences.

LouAnn Brown

River City Science Academy Mandarin

A gifted education teacher at River City Science Academy Mandarin, LouAnn plans to travel to London and explore the world of Sherlock Holmes with the goal of creating an interdisciplinary curriculum for her gifted students that blends literature, history, and STEM.

River City Science Academy Innovation Team

Alexandra Hall and Stephanie White

These 5th-grade science and math teachers at River City Science Academy Innovation will participate in an Ecology Project International program in Costa Rica as part of their Edelman Fellowship experience. Their proposal focuses on integrating real-world environmental issues into their curriculum by engaging in hands-on research. By developing cross-curricular lessons connecting their students to local conservation efforts, they aim to enhance engagement, particularly among low-income and minority students.

Wayman Academy of the Arts

Aaron, an English Language Arts teacher, will use his Edelman Fellowship opportunity to attend the National Writing Project’s Summer Institute at UC Berkeley. His proposal focuses on enhancing creative writing and digital storytelling instruction to empower students as confident and expressive writers.  

Garold Harris

Matthew W. Gilbert Middle School

Garold, a mathematics teacher, will attend The Creativity Workshop in New York City. His fellowship experience focuses on enhancing student engagement in mathematics by incorporating creativity into instruction through storytelling, visualization, and hands-on activities.
